Features

  • Pet Club: Come to the farm and learn about small fluffy animals. Sign up for a 6-week course covering: small pet diets, safe handling, health checks and what foods to grow to feed pets. Open to children aged 8–16 years
  • Training: Sustainable ways of living workshops for young people. A series of educational workshops to teach young people about ways to live sustainably. These workshops offer the opportunity to learn how to use natural and recycled materials to make what’s needed. Key skills are taught that equip young people to live a resilient, sustainable life including growing food, composting, woodworking, pottery, sewing, natural dyeing, felting and making simple herbal remedies. This training is being offered at a time when there are few opportunities for young people to learn these skills, so it’s free to attend. The workshops are open to young people aged between 8–12 years and 13–18 years.
  • Holiday Hub: For all children and young people aged 8–16 years. HAF spaces are also offered at the hub. These are free spaces for children eligible for Free School Meals and are part of Camden’s vital work to ensure children throughout the borough have access to food security during the school holidays. A typical Holiday Hub week includes daily cooking, gardening and animal care sessions, along with sports, arts and crafts, woodworking and wildlife activities in the afternoons.
  • Animal Handling Sessions: Want to get up close and personal with some amazing animals. Book a handling session and fulfil all of your guinea pig cuddling, goat selfie-ing, cow petting dreams. 30-minute sessions are available every day of the week, at £80 per six people. Additional people may join for £10 per person, up to 15 people per group. Let the team know if specific animals should be picked or if a focus on favourites is preferred!
  • Meet the animals: Meet many lovely and friendly animals and let the team know your favourite.
    • Quails: Cornelius and his lady friend Beryl have been at the farm for a couple of years now. Peek inside their home to see how tiny quail eggs are in comparison to chicken eggs.
    • Chickens: Two chicken families are on the farm for visits. Ethel, Penny, and Matilda form the first group. Ethel is a grand dame, a feisty Leghorn born in 2015. Penny (Burford Brown) and Matilda (Derbyshire Redcap) were born in 2023 and hand-reared from a few weeks old.
    • Guinea pigs: A little guinea pig family loves cuddles from visitors! Check signage for free handling sessions and meet Pickle (English Crested) and Peanut (Abyssinian), born 2023, and Parsley (Peruvian) and Parsnip (Abyssinian), born 2025.
    • Rabbits: Roger (Harlequin, born 2018) and Honey (Fawn mini lop, born 2022) are a bonded pair who love each other and no one else! Inquisitive and intelligent, this gorgeous pair are firm in their personal boundaries!
    • Goats: The goat family is the most popular group on the farm. Minnie and Mimi (Toggenburg crosses, born 2016), Hope (Minnie’s daughter, 2017), and Rosie (Saanen cross, born 2018) are cheeky and playful, loving cuddles and photo sessions!
    • Sheep: By the wishing tree, find two sheep groups. The older group are all Jacobs sheep, a piebald, horned breed commonly found in the UK. All are at least eight years old and provide wool each year, used for hanging planters, gardens, bags, pouches, and clothing.
    • Cow: Shirley, an Aberdeen Angus cross born in 2010, has been at the farm since six months old. Loving sunshine, fresh grass, and hanging out with friends Betty, Wilma, Nora, and Dora!
    • Donkeys: Dora (born 2007) and her daughter Nora (born 2011) are Irish Donkeys from the Donkey Sanctuary. On long-term foster, they’ll stay until retirement among other donkeys. Their cheeky personalities and soft faces bring joy to staff and visitors.
  • Growing Club: Every Sunday 10:30am – 1:30pm. Join to grow a productive garden with different fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Learn from gardening facilitator Jacob and regular volunteers about permaculture approaches, preparing soil, growing from seed, feeding plants organically, and growing successionally. Everyone is welcome: all ages. A wide range of fruit and vegetables are being grown, along with flowers for pollinators. Volunteers learn about gardening while contributing towards a productive community garden.
  • Animal Encounters: Guinea pig handling for the public will take place on Saturdays and Sundays only over the summer, 12:00 – 12:30 by the small animal enclosures. The big animals will also be taken up to their paddocks earlier than usual. Letting down time is still from 3:30pm, but is busier than normal as all mini farmers are helping staff. If assistance is needed from a member of staff while on the farm, look for any team member in a green KTCF shirt. Normal activities will resume in September. All groups over 8 persons must book with the office ahead of their visit! Summer is extremely busy with limited space available.
