Highlights include the Iron Age enclosure, a quarry viewpoint and a wellbeing trail designed for relaxation and mindfulness. Families can also enjoy themed experiences like the Room on the Broom trail, along with picnic areas and regular Parkrun events.
Entry to Haughmond Hill is completely free, though parking charges apply on-site.

Explore Haughmond Hill and follow in the footsteps of history. Follow the trails out to the front of the hill for commanding views across the River Severn and Shrewsbury to the South Shropshire and Welsh hills beyond. Discover the Iron Age enclosure or visit the viewing platform over the quarry; a must for any budding geologists or anyone who likes dumper trucks!
- Walking trails at Haughmond Hill: There are four walking trails at Haughmond Hill for you to explore. The Geo and Corbet trails are suitable for buggies and mobility scooters. Wilfred's Walk and Henry's Hike are longer walks which are rocky and rooty and can be muddy at times.
- Wellbeing trail at Haughmond Hill: Spending time amongst the trees and really noticing nature is scientifically proven to boost our mental and physical health. Follow the trail to take a mindful walk through the forest that invites you to really relax. Themed panels along the trail will invite you to pause, notice and connect with the forest environment around you.
- Corbet easy access trail: Follow the yellow waymarkers along this surfaced trail through mixed woodland with frequent benches. Visitors with wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies should find this walk suitable. This trail is also home to our family activity trail, which changes theme each year.
- Parkrun at Haughmond Hill: Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. These events take place in pleasant forest surroundings and people of every ability are encouraged to take part. From those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; everyone is welcome.
- Picnics at Haughmond Hill: Enjoy a tasty treat in the forest at one of our beautiful picnic areas, just bring along good food and company! There are numerous picnic tables around the cafe area. To help dog owners enjoy a hands-free experience, we have individual dog clips attached to all our benches for you to clip your dog lead to.
- Room on the Broom trail at Haughmond Hill: Join Witch and her friends on an enchanting adventure at Haughmond Hill. This interactive family trail is packed with Room on the Broom themed activities, fascinating forest facts and plenty of hands-on fun. As you explore, help Witch find her lost hat, bow and wand, and collect the special ingredients she needs to complete her spell – but watch out for Dragon along the way!
