  • Harwich International Port is a North Sea seaport and one of the Haven ports. It lies on the south bank of the River Stour one mile upstream from the town of Harwich, opposite Shotley. The port was formerly known as Parkeston Quay.
  • While crossing from Harwich to Shotley you can see the Cruise ship Terminal in the distance. The Port of Felixstowe is the United Kingdom's busiest container port,dealing with 42% of Britain's containerised trade.
  • It is with 3000 meter deep water quay Europe's fifth's busiest port and handled 3.74 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of traffic in 2011. The Navyard Wharf - Roll on/Roll off cargo ships sail to various ports in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Belgium.
  • Shotley Marina is located at Shotley Gate where the Stour and Orwell estuaries meet, and overlooks the port of Felixstowe on the one side and Harwich on the other.
  • On the 60 minute Harbour round trip you will see all the above and Landguard Fort from the water with its first fortifications from 1540, designed to guard the entrance to the port of Harwich.
  • The fort has been structurally consolidated and is open every day from April to the end of October. It is now in the guardianship of English Heritage.
