The Brontë Parsonage Museum is a writer's house museum maintained by the Brontë Society in honour of the Brontë sisters – Charlotte, Emily and Anne. Home of the inspirational Brontë family.

The Bronte Parsonage Museum is the former home of the Bronte family and the place where 'Jane Eyre', 'Wuthering Heights' and 'The Tenant of Wildfell Hall' were written. The historic rooms are displayed as the Brontes would have known them and house the world's largest collection of Bronte manuscripts, furniture and personal possessions.

  • The Museum: The Home of the Brontës. In 1928, the Brontë Society bought Haworth Parsonage – the former home of Yorkshire’s famous literary family – to display and look after our extensive collection of Brontë items. Today, the Parsonage remains our greatest asset in the collection, and we welcome visitors from all around the world to step inside its doors. 
  • Our collections: Our museum collection includes the largest variety of original Brontë items in the world, and is certified a Designated Collection by Arts Council England. This prestigious status recognises the importance of the items in our care to England’s literary history. We’re proud to look after this collection and make it publicly accessible to visitors and researchers, ensuring the Brontë legacy is enjoyed and continued for generations to come.
  • Exhibitions: View the online version of our current exhibition!
  • Research Library: Our research library holds hundreds of books and articles relating to the Brontës and the local history of the area. This secondary source material is an excellent place to further your research into the Brontës’ lives and times.

Facilities

  • Parking: The nearest is Museum Car Park (BD22 8DS) off West Lane and has public WCs.A large car park with facilities for coaches is accessible from Sun Street (BD22 8BW). It’s owned by Bradford Council. A privately owned car park is just off North Street (BD22 8DG). 
  • Food & Drinks: We don't have a cafe at the Museum, however there are plenty of great eateries just a short walk away on Main Street. 
  • Toilets: We have visitor facilities on site, including four self-contained cubicles, a disabled toilet, baby changing, and a Changing Places Toilet (CPT).

  • By train: Leeds has the biggest train station serving West Yorkshire. The nearest local station is Keighley. From Keighley, you can take a bus to Haworth.The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway runs steam trains between Keighley railway station and Haworth railway station at weekends, bank holidays, and daily in summer (visit the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway website for more details). 
  • By bus: Regular buses run to Haworth from Bradford Interchange, Keighley bus station, and Hebden Bridge railway station.
