Imam Zakariya Academy (IZA) is an educational institute based in the heart of East London and was established in 2003 with one of the first Islamic primary schools for Muslims in the East London area. Since then, it has gone from strength to strength by providing various courses for the Muslim community.One of the flagship courses is the ’Ālimiyyah course, run over seven years in the evening making it possible for working adults and college or university students, this is a course traditionally run-in full-time settings like a Darul Uloom and predominantly taught in Urdu, however at IZA the course is designed to suit the needs for the Muslim community living in the west, therefore the course is taught in the English medium. The ’Ālimiyyah has produced 57 graduates to date, of which many of them have established insititues themselves

The ’Ālimiyyah Course
The aim of the ’Ālimiyyah curriculum is to produce 'Ulamā (scholars) and leaders who are competent in the Islamic sciences such as Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, Fiqh and other sciences possessing the professional skills necessary to serve, guide and lead the Muslim community with excellence. In addition to imparting knowledge and skills.
Diploma in Islāmic Studies
The Diploma in Islāmic Studies is a two-year part-time course tailored for those who wish to attain a broad yet comprehensive foundation in Islām. All lessons take place during the late evening catered to the busy studying or working Muslims.
The Qur'ān Programme
The Qur'ān Programme is a course designed for adults who want to revise or memorise the glorious Qur'an.
GCSE in Islamic Studies
Islamic Studies GCSE is a two year comprehensive study of Shariʽah with selected topics for teenagers.The course is best suited for teenage students who wish to further their understandings of Islam to advanced stages. This course aims to equip the young Muslims with the correct teachings of Islam as set out by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him). Strong focus is placed on dealing with the many modern challenges faced by the youth of today.
