Undershaw Education Trust is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 7 to 19 (Gender - 7 to 19 )

They are united in the vision to develop, deliver and drive an education for a lifetime. School life at Undershaw prepares students for their future as independent adults, engaging actively in their community, striving for social change and with a thirst for learning in all its guises.Undershaw’s purpose is unique. We provide a nurturing but ambitious education for those with SEND who might not thrive in a mainstream setting but who equally would not be well-suited to attending a special needs school. Undershaw offers an alternative which sits just between the two. It is a specialist environment of 95 students where individual needs are met through a personalised, innovative, and integrated approach. We have a flexible curriculum, bespoke qualification pathways, SEND ethos, individual pastoral care, and integrated therapeutic support.

Features

Things to note

SEND Ethos
Each child deserves an opportunity to achieve their best. At Undershaw we pride ourselves on the SEND ethos being at the heart of everything we do. We provide a structured, stimulating environment in which all children are valued, included, and supported to reach their full potential. Every child is unique and all children develop at a different pace. We place each child at the centre of their learning. They place their needs before all others and will adapt the model to suit each individual.

Therapy
An integrated therapy programme is one of the main pillars of our provision at Undershaw. Effective, relevant and focussed therapeutic support is imperative for many of our students’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Therapy underpins the ability to learn in a classroom-based environment and to develop autonomy alongside interdependence.Occupational therapy helps you live your best life at home, at work – and everywhere else. It’s about being able to do the things you want and have to do. That could mean helping you overcome challenges learning at school, going to work, playing sport or simply doing the dishes. Everything is focused on increasing independence and wellbeing.
