It is adapted to suit individual children’s needs and interests so that they are confident, well prepared and highly motivated learners.
Prep School
The additional challenge and responsibility of prep school life successfully prepares our children for the transition to their chosen senior schools. Children at St John’s Priory are confident learners and we aim to encourage them to ask questions, take ownership of their learning and feel empowered to voice their opinions and ideas. From year 3, the preparation for senior school begins in earnest. Prep school pupils receive subject specialist teaching in English, Maths and Science, Sports, Arts and French and Spanish. Specialist teachers in subject areas tailor lessons to the individual needs of the children.
Learning Support
They believe that it is essential to recognise a child’s difficulties at this vital primary stage in their education, as once the correct support has been given, a child is more likely to learn strategies to help overcome these issues. Children can then go on to achieve their full academic potential.St John’s Priory School has a ‘whole school’ approach to identifying children who require additional help with their learning; whereby any concerns about a child’s progress are carefully monitored by the class teachers and Head of Learning Support.
Sport
Sport and PE provide our children with opportunities to develop a wide range of skills. Enjoyment and skills development are the core elements of every lesson. Strong links with our local senior independent school, Bloxham School, afford our pupils regular access to their extensive grounds and first class sporting facilities. Children in Years 3 – 6 enjoy two hours of weekly Games sessions; taking advantage of the school’s excellent facilities for traditional team games and other sports all year round.
