St Albans Girls' School

Sandridgebury Ln, St Albans AL3 6DB, United Kingdom
11-18 Years

Description

They are proud of our school and rightly so.  Not only do we achieve excellent public examination results at all levels, but we have a thriving community with a superb extra-curricular programme and a wealth of activities to engage all age groups.

The atmosphere in the school is exciting and vibrant because our students are purposeful and always busy. We encourage all of our young people to be aware of the needs of others and every year they collect several thousands of pounds for different charities. We have an excellent sporting record, with Music, Drama and the Arts celebrated within the rich and full academic curriculum. Our House system is at the heart of our community and encourages healthy competition.

Features

Things to note

Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEN/D)
The aims are based on the 2015 SEN/D Code of Practice which can be found at www.gov.uk. At St Albans Girls' School they aim to: promote Independence amongst students with SEN/D, providing them with strategies to overcome barriers to success, use a child centred approach and work closely with parent and carers in tailoring support to an individual child's needs, ensure high quality first teaching from all teachers, provide appropriate additional support so that all children with SEN/D can achieve their potential

Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Education (SMSC)
At St Albans Girls’ School, the promotion of students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is considered to be a whole school issue. People form their values and attitudes in childhood. These may change over time, but those values and attitudes formed in early life are likely to have a strong influence on the adult citizen. We have a duty to provide a positive influence whilst allowing students freedom of expression and the ability to reach decisions for themselves (conformity and challenge). The example set by adults in the school and the quality of relationships is of particular importance in promoting spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

STEAM in ADT
Within the Art, Design and Technology department there are numerous opportunities for students to extend their STEAM learning experiences.

STEAM in Maths
Maths provides a variety of opportunities for students to extend their love of learning outside the  classroom.

STEAM in Science
The Science department offers a wide variety of STEAM activities. This provides students who are passionate about science or considering a career in a STEAM based environment with invaluable enrichment opportunities.
