Nursery
Children between the ages of three to 24 and 26 months enjoy a welcoming family setting. They revel in a wealth of stimulating activities as they learn through play and develop their social skills. With frequent walks and outdoor activities, the children experience nature and enjoy wildlife in Sherfield’s beautiful surroundings. The outstanding staff encourage children as their learning develops and they become used to structure. Children have regular visits to the school library. They enjoy music and movement sessions in the dance studio. Sherfield’s young children also love the outdoor spaces. The Nursery garden has a superb range of outdoor equipment. There are areas to dig and play, and trails to explore.
Pre-Reception
Sherfield Pre-reception gives children an introduction to school routine. They have timetabled and age-appropriate activities such as library visits and choosing a book to take home. Children also enjoy PE lessons, yoga, Clever Touch boards, outdoor play and regular walks. They also put on a Christmas and summer performance. Pre-reception staff work very closely with Reception teachers to ensure a smooth transition for the children as they move on to the next step of their education.
Junior Prep
Sherfield School’s Junior Prep children enjoy one of the UK’s best all-round learning experiences. Classes are small and attention to detail is high. Children have exciting and varied learning experiences. Sherfield School’s excellent teachers ensure that Junior Prep is vibrant and stimulating.Year 1 and 2 children take trips such as a visit to the Isle of Wight for History and Geography. Pre-Reception to Year 4 pupils enjoy their own areas of the school. They have a separate garden area and outdoor classroom.
Senior Prep
From Year 5, children work towards increased academic, arts and sports success in a progressively structured environment. Sherfield Senior Prep pupils enjoy a broad academic and cultural curriculum.Children's talents are fostered, with some lessons taught by specialist teachers. They provide a stimulating range of extra-curricular activities which cater to all academic, creative and sporting interests. Regular sports activities are also enjoyed by pupils as part of the curriculum. They place great emphasis on personal development. The strength of the pastoral care and house systems shows in the courteous conduct of our young people. They encourage pupils to develop their leadership skills.
