Curriculum
They are a multi-cultural school where the individual needs of highly able students are met and the development of the ‘whole’ person lies at the heart of our ethos. We offer our students a highly academic, rich and diverse curriculum, which supports and nurtures individual learning needs and talents.

Key Stage 4
The programme for Key Stage 4 provides a broad core of courses which ensures a balanced and challenging curriculum, together with additional courses which will allow students to follow subjects which they enjoy, are good at, or need for their future career plans.

Sixth Form
Entry to Year 12 is dependent upon academic attainment in GCSE examinations* plus the availability and suitability of courses offered by the school. The entry requirements, which also apply to those already at the school, are at least seven GCSEs at grade 6 or above which include English and Maths. Candidates would normally be expected to achieve at least grade 7 in the subjects they wish to study at A Level (or, for non-GCSE subjects, attain an average GCSE points score of at least 6.8). Students eligible for pupil premium are expected to achieve at least six GCSEs at grade 6 or above, with grade 7 in the subjects they wish to study at A-Level (or, for non-GCSE subjects, attain an average GCSE points score of at least 6.2)

Features

Things to note

Primary Outreach Programme
Over the past two years the selective schools in Walsall have engaged in an outreach programme to encourage families to consider the option of applying for a place for their child in Year 7. Sadly, the pandemic has severely curtailed the wide range of activities that we would normally have planned to provide and so we are using alternative means to get information about our provision to you and, particularly, to encourage local families to grasp the opportunities that are afforded by the education we offer. The original aim of grammar schools was to provide high quality education for children whatever their financial means and we are keen to continue this approach today.
