Description

Progress School is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 7 to 19 (Gender - 7 to 19 )

At Progress Schools, they currently have thirteen independent secondary schools, located throughout England, who support local authorities and mainstream schools to work with young people who require an alternative approach to their education. Many students have diagnosed/undiagnosed SEND/SEMH and have likely experienced the trauma of a permanent exclusion from at least one mainstream school. Through our incredible workforce of teachers, engagement mentors, welfare officers and alike, we ensure a truly rounded curriculum that is delivered in a nurturing and supportive way, enable us to identify the potential and ambitions of our young people and work with them to support them to access those opportunities when they leave us at the end of year 11. In 2019, The Timpson Review of School Exclusions identified that more than half of young people who access alternative provision (AP) or PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) type settings become NEET (not in education, employment or training) when they leve school. Every year since our inception in 2016, we have supported more than 80% of our students progress into a positive destination when they leave us after year 11. This has also supported them to achieve consecutive ‘good’ judgements in every one of the Ofsted inspections.

Curriculum
At Progress Schools, we take pride in offering programmes that are tailor-made to meet the needs of the young people. Mainstream education does not suit everyone, and the approach ensures that each child has access to a high-quality education provision that supports them reach their potential. We understand that not one-size-fits-all, that is why each of our curriculums are specifically designed to meet students needs. Each school benefits from and individualised curriculum that supports each student to achieve.

Remote Learning
The Remote Education package aligns to our in-school, full-time curriculum, and is available for students who are unable to attend school for any reason. Each lesson is taught in real-time allowing students who are learning remotely to feel like they are in the classroom with their teachers and peers. Like in-school, students who are remote learning can book a 1:1 session with their teachers to discuss their learning.

Things to note

Pastoral Support
At Progress Schools they are committed to giving each student extra support and attention to help them succeed. The small class sizes enable our staff to offer the most individualised support possible. Support staff are on hand to provide students with 1:1 time to enable them to fully engage with their education and meet their full potential. At Progress Schools they conduct a STAR assessment to mark a starting point for each student’s journey across eight different areas, including, relationships and health & wellbeing.  As part of our Pastoral Support, parents and carers can contact individual staff, allowing them to air concerns directly with their child’s teacher or Head of School. They pride themselves on the open door policy and want parents and carers to feel they can come in and discuss any issues their child may be facing that could impact their education.
