Orchard Primary School is a State Primary School for kids aged 5 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
The school is based in the vibrant and diverse community of Hackney, East London. They provide a rich and exciting curriculum to develop the confidence and enthusiasm for learning that will take the pupils through secondary school and beyond. They are part of the Viridis Federation of three local schools, sharing expertise and a passion for creating a fantastic place for children to learn. They have a joint Governing body and work closely to develop a curriculum offer which will inspire our learners. The curriculum is innovative and inclusive, and as a result they have achieved many awards and quality marks that benchmark the provision against the highest standards.
Curriculum
They offer a curriculum which is broad and balanced to ensure every child reaches their full potential and has access to a range of educational experiences whatever their starting points or circumstance. Pupils are provided with a rich progression of opportunities to be part of, a rich, varied and comprehensive curriculum that reflects the interests of the school, its staff, pupils, parents and the wider national and global communities. Although literacy and mathematics are planned for discreetly in weekly plans, many other topic areas are relevant in these lessons, particularly through the choice of texts and writing outcomes in literacy. Whole school approaches to reading ensure that the pupils are confident readers who enjoy reading. Specialist teachers support the teaching of Music, Spanish and Physical Education. Regular themed weeks, trips and workshops within and outside of school enrich and develop the children’s learning. The spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our pupils and their understanding of the core values of the society are woven through our curriculum.
Breakfast Club
They want every child to start the day with everything they need in order to learn effectively; a fundamental element of this is a healthy, filling breakfast. The chance to socialise with peers & adults, to keep fit & play also play an important role in readying children for the day ahead.
Extended Day Club
The extended day club (after school club) enables parents/carers have outstanding, affordable childcare at the end of the school day. The club is staffed by our own school team so the children already know them well. The club operates from the school site which means a smooth transition at the end of the school day. Places MUST be pre-booked and pre-paid and they are unable to accept casual admissions due to pressure on numbers. The children will be provided with a healthy snack plus participate in indoor and outdoor activities. They will be encouraged to read, play board games, make models, enjoy organised outdoor sports or do homework and socialise with friends.
After School Club Activities
Fitness, health and creativity are all integral parts of the curriculum and these activities are reflected in the range of clubs they offer. The programme encourages children to develop skills and to broaden their range of experiences and interests.
