Lincoln Minster School is an independent co-educational HMC day and boarding school for pupils aged 4 – 18 years based in the heart of Lincolnshire, UK. The Lincoln Minster School experience provides an enriched education that consistently creates high achievers with purpose, ambition and character. The small class sizes allow us to give each student the attention and individualised nurturing needed to support their development as they reach their full potential. Reception
At Lincoln Minster School they put our pupils first, seeking to ensure that their talents and abilities are nurtured and encouraged to flourish in an environment of support and appreciation. This approach is demonstrated throughout every age range, with a curriculum designed to build the strong foundations for success in both academic and personal development. Learning at Lincoln Minster School is fun, exciting and inviting, with all children learning through playing and by doing. They offer a broad curriculum-linked through topics to provide opportunities for the children to extend experiences and further their learning and knowledge. Art, Drama, Music and Sport are key parts of the experience. Above all, in every area we encourage independence, thinking and investigating, enquiring minds, imagination, creativity, self-confidence and communication. We treat every child as an individual and believe that happy children are learning children.

Preparatory
The Preparatory School, located just a short walk from the Senior School site, builds on the foundations established during Key Stage 1. They aim to provide a first-class education within a wonderfully dynamic and inspiring environment. They place an equal value on core, creative and technological subjects to provide a progressive curriculum, continually evolving to answer to the needs of modern society and encourage the development of crucial life skills including curiosity and self-motivation. The sessions give you and your child the first taste of life at Lincoln Minster School where your child can engage with our teachers, play with others and become comfortable with the school setting. Parents can use this as opportunity to speak with staff about the school or making an application, or simply to meet other parents.

Senior School
At the Senior School, they specialise in finding the best in every pupil and place equal value on cultural, technological, scientific, linguistic and creative subjects. They pride ourselves on putting the pupils first seeking to ensure that their talents and abilities are nurtured and encouraged to flourish in an environment of support and appreciation. Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) is an important part of the curriculum. Within these lessons pupils will cover topics on Health and Wellbeing, Careers, Relationships, Living in the Wider World and Celebrating Difference.

Things to note

Driving Passion Through Clubs and Activities
Here at Lincoln Minster School, they have a wide range of co-curricular clubs and activities for pupils of all years to be involved in. These activities provide pupils with the opportunity to pursue a passion, explore their interests, stretch their imagination and develop new skills. Scheduled both within the school day and before/after school, we aim to ensure that our co-curricular offering is available at a time that suits most.

The Arts
An inspirational environment to get creative with the outstanding art facilities. Creativity and individuality are celebrated throughout the school, with a rich array of opportunities for pupils to express themselves. Pupils can benefit from well-connected tutors, regular engagement opportunities with local, national and global competitions and festivals, and one-to-one tutoring with 13 specialist peripatetic music tutors.

Sport
There is a plethora of sporting opportunities here at Lincoln Minster School, providing each pupil with the opportunity to explore and develop their talents in an activity they’re passionate about.  A wide range of activities are available to boys and girls both for talented individuals who have particular interests, and also for those whose motivation is more recreational and social. We firmly believe that sport is for everyone and aim to ensure that children of all abilities and aptitudes have a positive experience and learn to appreciate the enjoyment and benefits to be gained from physical activity.

Scholarships

Applications are now open for September 2024.

Closing date: 15th November 2023

Assessments: w/c 15th January 2024 (except Sixth Form)

Sixth Form scholarship applications will be processed earlier, with offers being sent by 1st December 2023. 

Scholarships are offered at entry to Years 79 and 12 for both existing pupils and external applicants. Applications are accepted in November prior to entry with an assessment taking place the following January. Applications can be made via the form on this page.

We are proud to offer scholarships across a variety if subjects including:

  • Academic –  An exam covering English and Maths, and include general aptitude tests
  • Art – Outstanding artistic ability and commitment
  • Drama – Assessment based on audition
  • Music – Musicians with a minimum standard required per age group, assessment based on audition
  • Sport – District or County level

Lincoln Minster School seeks to promote accessibility by making alternative payment submission options available through both our Scholarship programme and means tested bursaries as appropriate.
