Kirkstone House School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 4 to 18 (Gender - 4 to 18 )
Kirkstone House is a small, friendly and nurturing school in which each individual is well known and supported in order that they can reach their potential. This is reflected in our excellent GCSE results.Parents choose them because they know that their son or daughter will be supported to achieve their potential in every respect and that a ‘whole child’ approach which is integral to the ethos is adopted at all times. This is a school where the individual really does count. They are non-selective in that we accept pupils of all abilities and parents who have children with different strengths have the opportunity to educate siblings with differing needs in one school. The Junior School pupils enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum without the distraction of SATs. Pupils are encouraged to become self motivated learners and pupils have the benefit of being taught some subjects by Senior School subject specialists.
Juniors
Kirkstone House is a small, co-educational independent school for pupils aged 3-18 years located in the village of Baston on the Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire borders. They are an entirely inclusive school accepting pupils of all abilities and our success lies in the fact that they enable all to achieve both their personal and academic potential. They never lose sight of the individual at the heart of all they do and the mission statement is that ‘The Individual Counts’. To this end, they offer individually tailored educational experiences for the pupils and they are not a ‘one size fits all’ school. They pride ourselves on being able to cater for the needs of each individual within small class sizes where staff can nurture and encourage children to embrace new experiences and challenges. The broad curriculum enables children to experience a wide variety of activities and allows for all styles of learning; whilst the staff are committed to equipping our children with the skills required to succeed and flourish in an ever changing world.
Seniors
The Senior School accepts pupils of all abilities in Years 7-13. Each year is generally made up of pupils who have come through our own Junior School together with an equal number from other schools. They accept pupils into any year group at any time of the school year and some pupils are given an opportunity to repeat a year if this is considered to be in their best interests. All pupils benefit from being taught in small classes and on-going assessment makes careful differentiation and streaming possible. Learning support is provided for pupils who need it both within class and on a one to one basis. The atmosphere in Senior School is calm and friendly. All pupils are known by staff and no cover teaches are used in school. Behaviour is excellent and the relationship between pupils and staff is based on mutual respect and is outstanding.
Inter-House Sports Morning
The Lower School pupils, staff and parents had a most enjoyable morning in the Sunshine. The children enjoyed doing some circuit type activities to earn points for their house. The Year 9 and 11 students manned each station in a very professional manner. Drinks and refredshments were served by the hospitality team. We celebrated the Truesdale victory with an ice cream.
Recycling Used Paper to Make New Paper
As part of our Science topic they reused old paper to make fresh new paper. It was quite a messy experience, but the children had a great time exploring the process.
