Immanuel School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 3 to 16 (Gender - 3 to 16 )
Immanuel School is a place where children thrive - a place where education is not just about the acquisition of knowledge, but is part of something far bigger. Immanuel School is a place where friendships are formed; where skills and abilities are developed; where vision and calling are discovered; where wisdom is acquired; a place in which children experience a sense of ‘family’ and belonging.Immanuel School is an independent school – one of a number of ministries run by Immanuel – catering for 3 to 16-year-old pupils, with a distinctively Christian vision, ethos and value system. They serve families from many different church backgrounds and nations.
Early Years
The Nursery and Reception classes are the places where foundations are laid; the children have the opportunity to learn about God, about themselves and about how they interact with the world around them. Learning often takes place through play - working collaboratively with others, learning to work and play within boundaries, while also enjoying the freedom to be imaginative and creative. They cover the seven learning areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which sets standards for the learning, development and care of children up to 5 years old.
Primary Education
In the primary classes, the children experience the joy of growing and learning - developing in their relationships with their peers, refining and learning new skills, growing in their relationship with God.Alongside our structured, differentiated language and maths curricula, topic work forms a significant part of the primary timetable. These exciting cross-curricular lessons draw on themes from geography, history and science, whilst also developing the children’s linguistic, artistic and mathematical skills. They believe that this topic-based approach enables the children to develop their knowledge and skills more holistically rather than seeing their subjects as disconnected, even fragmented.
Secondary Education
The senior curriculum is structured around discrete subjects, with time allocated to each subject in a weekly timetable for each year group. The schemes of work are differentiated, providing challenge or support where appropriate. The style of teaching tends to be 'relational', recognising that collaboration is often very fruitful.Due to the location and nature of the school site, we enjoy taking learning outside of the classroom for subjects including art and science, as well as for PE and gardening.
Facilities
The school site has its own playing field and forest area, and overlooks the beautiful Essex countryside on the outskirts of the London Borough of Havering. The site is also the administrative base for Immanuel and is used for other community related activities, including larger joint church meetings, conferences, and youth work.
Selection Criteria: Selective
They welcome applications for Nursery through to Year 9 from families who can fully support the aims. Children do not have to attend our nursery class to ensure a Reception place. Having requested a prospectus, parents will be asked to arrange an informal visit before making an application for admission. Once a formal application is made, each application is prayerfully considered, taking into account the character of the appropriate year group; references will be taken from church leaders and the child's current school. Parents will be notified in writing of the decision made. A holding deposit of £600 is required with the acceptance of an offer of place. This is non-refundable if you subsequently do not take up the offer of a palce. The offer of a place is held open for one month.
