Description

Graveney School is leading State Secondary school in London. This is a Non-selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Mixed

Graveney is a very special place. With roots dating back to the 17th century, we occupy a beautiful campus style site with an eclectic selection of buildings the most recent of which was built in 2019, winning a prestigious architectural award and incorporating an observatory for our students of Astronomy. Visitors tell us that our school has a ‘university feel’, quite unlike that of any other inner city  school.Graveney is a happy school. The quality of relationships between adults and students and between students themselves can be seen across the school. There is a rich diversity of students here, with 60 different languages spoken at home and a very broad socio-economic, cultural and ethnic mix that is very much reflective of the community in Tooting that we serve. This widely diverse group of people work harmoniously and happily together which makes Graveney feel safe and means that everyone  feels that they can belong.

KS3 GRADUATION
At Graveney we believe in developing students to be respectful, well-rounded citizens with a love for learning. We want them to achieve academic success, but we also want much more. The KS3 Graduation process rewards those who demonstrate the attributes we value. These are: Excellent Academic Progress, Exceptional Attitude to Learning, Commitment to Learning Beyond the Classroom

YEAR 9 NEXT STEPS
This is an important and exciting time for Year 9 pupils as they begin to consider the next steps in their educational journey – their Key Stage 4 courses. Pupils have had a series of virtual Loom assemblies informing them of the different GCSE and Btec subjects available to them and our Next Steps booklet that outlines in detail the Next Steps process, as well as providing further information about each subject.

SIXTH FORM PROSPECTUS
With over 700 students in our sixth form, we can offer a wide and exciting range of level three courses, including 32 A Level subjects. They are very proud of the provision we offer which can be explored by viewing other areas of the Sixth Form section.

Things to note

Music At Graveney
The music department is truly exceptional, both in our academic achievements and our extra-curricular programme. It is a buzzing and exciting place to be and there is never a quiet moment (quite literally!).

Outdoor education
Outdoor Education is an integral part of our school curriculum to help our students develop both academically and socially. Research in Outdoor education has shown that it can develop students to be more: resilient, accepting of themselves and others, self-reliant, determined, confident in their learning, positive when facing challenges, effective at working as a team.

SEND
The Learning Support Department supports the whole school in the identification and teaching and learning of students with SEND. In particular those with: Specific Learning difficulties (SpLD) and cognition (including dyspraxia, dyslexia and dyscalculia), Speech Language and Communication (SLCN), including ASD
