Gracefield Preparatory School is Independent Primary school in Bristol, City of for kids aged 4 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Welcome to the school where the children are truly happy and develop a love of learning within a family orientated community. Each child is known individually and the children entrusted to our care are encouraged to reach their full potential and attain the highest possible levels of achievement. While these achievements are important, we recognise that success comes in all shapes and sizes and we aim to equip our children, not only with academic skills, but also with qualities of character which will serve them throughout their lives beyond education.Traditional values form the moral framework for our school. Whilst we recognise and respond to the changing nature of society in a flexible way, we are committed to providing a nurturing environment based on our core Christian values. These guiding principles of respect and discipline underpin our relationships with each other.
KEY STAGE ONE (YEARS 1 - 2)
Learning is developed in KS1 through many different creative experiences. We use topic work linked to the National Curriculum to ensure the process is fun and exciting and are able to enhance the education experience with various trips and special topic days, taking learning into the outside world to bring it to life.
KEY STAGE TWO (YEARS 3 - 6)
In KS2, children develop a deeper understanding in the three core areas and the foundation subjects. The children build on their learning experience, using a variety of information sources to support their work in other subjects. We encourage the children to develop intellectual curiosity, nurturing the individual talents of our pupils.
MUSIC
Music plays a huge role in the life of Gracefield School. We aim to provide enjoyable, first hand experiences for our children in listening to, performing and composing music. From the beginning of their studies, all our children are encouraged to explore, experience and control sounds made by the voice and a variety of instruments. The children are introduced to music in a range of styles and from different times and cultures.
TRIPS AND EXPERIENCES
Gracefield’s academic learning programme is enhanced by an extensive programme of events and excursions. Our calendar is full of special events which add another dimension to school life. We like to give the children the opportunity to expand their educational horizons and to take a keen interest in the world around them. Exciting trips in a wide variety of hands-on, interactive environments bring the learning process to life in a fun, imaginative way. Our Woodland Adventures offer the children the opportunity to learn from the natural world through hands on activities. The children observe the changing seasons, study mini beasts and learn to understand and respect the life of the forest. The freedom to climb trees and splash in the stream is an experience not to be missed!
SEN PROVISION
They believe that having a specific learning need should never be a barrier to achievement. Occasionally some pupils need additional support in their studies. This can be a short period of intensive help to boost their achievement or remedy any gaps in understanding; or a more long term plan. We continuously track and monitor each child’s progress and our small classes and high staff to pupil ratio ensures that children who may be experiencing difficulty are identified without delay and helped. Children generally work with their own age group, unless this is unsuitable for the child's stage of development.
