Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School Limited is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 3 to 18 (Gender - 3 to 18 )
Elmfield School in Stourbridge, West Midlands, England, UK is an experiential independent school for pupils from age 3 to 17. They follow the internationally established Steiner Waldorf curriculum, which responds to the changing needs of the developing child, continually nourishing their social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth.Pupils sit national curriculum GCSEs in their last two years at Elmfield. They are proud of our excellent GCSE results, which are achieved whilst preserving childhood and avoiding any ‘hot-housing’ of the young child.Artistic work is integral throughout the teaching at Elmfield: arts, crafts, movement and music are learning tools as well as subjects in their own right. French and German are taught from age six. Early learning is based on practical activities, movement, circle games, crafts, music and stories.
Lower School FOR AGES 6-14
If you are reading this you are probably already connected to our school and Waldorf Education. You may have been a former pupil of Elmfield or part of the extended Waldorf family across the world. Whatever your connection be that parent, grandparent or friend of the school they are all part of a wonderful education that should be considered a gift. However, this gift comes at a financial price which makes accessibility to Waldorf education difficult for some families, this we intend to change.
Upper School FOR AGES 14-17
In the Upper School, they continue to work with the international Waldorf Curriculum with our own uniquely developed body based learning programme. This exciting curriculum offers what we believe is the most interesting curriculum in the country. The broad range of subjects and the way they are taught give our students opportunities that are just not available in the mainstream. The GCSE programme is also introduced in the Upper School and runs over three years. Students normally take 4 GCSEs in class 10 and the remainder in class 11. The majority of the students go on to college to do A-levels.
Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a high quality, enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development activities for young people aged 14-25. We have been running the award scheme at Elmfield for many years and can see the huge benefits it gives to our pupils in terms of increased self-confidence, social and team-building skills, and hopefully an increased appreciation for, and love of, the great outdoors. The award is widely recognised by employers, colleges and universities.
