Curriculum
The vision is to provide the best possible education for girls so the curriculum is designed to do just that. We are passionate about the breadth of opportunity and strive to enable all girls to choose subjects that are right for them; providing challenge and supporting high aspirations. They believe girls learn best when they are valued, inspired, curious and happy. The curriculum provides the best possible education for all the girls. The intent is to have a curriculum which is outstanding in its breadth and cohesion. Girls study a wide range of subjects for as long as possible so they can be freed to be themselves by finding their passions and strengths. They promote the joy of learning for its own sake whilst maintaining a tradition of excellence. The curriculum offers opportunities for finding joy in learning and for our girls to exhibit flair whilst achieving personal bests. The challenge and breadth of the curriculum enables them to be bold, resilient and ready to shape the world . All those who deliver this curriculum share their own joy and passion in their subject to encourage intellectual ambition through collaboration and a desire to balance academic achievement with personal development and wellbeing

Send
At Dr Challoner’s High School, they strive for all girls to access the best possible education and to support the aspirations of each individual. They see each girl as a remarkable individual and aim to support both their learning in school and their confidence in themselves as young people, so that they are best ready for setting out to shape our future. First and foremost, they look at the whole person holistically and tailor the guidance and support a pupil may need accordingly. The overall approach in school is to ensure that learning needs are supported by high quality teaching in all subjects. For most students, this approach to quality teaching with specific targeted teaching strategies is enough to enable them to flourish. For others, extra support is put in place according to their individual need. The SEND department works very closely with the Pastoral team as we believe that a pupil’s wellbeing can often be inseparable from their educational need.

Things to note

DRAMA & MUSIC AT DR CHALLONER'S HIGH SCHOOL
Music plays a major role in the life of Dr Challoner’s High School, thanks to a thriving and extensive extra-curricular programme which caters to all levels of ability. They currently boast five choirs, two orchestras, a wind band and a variety of instrumental chamber ensembles, all of whom rehearse on a weekly basis and have multiple opportunities to perform both in school and within the wider community.  In collaboration with Dr Challoner’s Grammar School, we also form a Joint Choir and Orchestra and the ever-popular Swing Band!

SPORT AT DR CHALLONER'S HIGH SCHOOL
Whether you are looking for your daughter to be a regular team member of the school's top squads or to have the chance to participate for the first time in a team, our dedicated PE teachers and external coaches will give her every opportunity to shine and take part. The ethos of the PE department is firmly embedded in the idea of every student being given the opportunity to develop their potential to the very best of their abilities. With this in mind, the girls receive coaching from experienced teachers, each with their own fields of expertise. All students get the opportunity to play in competitive matches, either through fixtures against other schools or through the inter-house competition system. The emphasis is always on enjoyment and we hope that the girls leave us with a love of sports participation which will stay with them throughout their life.
