11-18 Years

Description

Carre's Grammar School is a State Secondary school for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Boys)

They have 800 students on roll; boys only 11-16, and co-educational in the Sixth Form. The school has long been synonymous with excellence and the school’s reputation for providing a first rate all-round education for local students has been strengthened even further over recent years. The academic results speak for themselves while our achievements in Sport, Music and other activities are outstanding. They have been recognised as a Good school with Outstanding features by Ofsted and were delighted with this outcome, which recognised the strengths of the school and supported the own perceived areas for improvement. They have been recognised as one of the top schools in the country based on the performance in the last few years, and students have regularly accepted offers for Oxbridge and the top Universities, whilst others have gone onto apprenticeships or employment.

Curriculum
It is the ambition that all students leave Carre's Grammar School having achieved their academic potential as well as being fully prepared for their next stage in education, or for work, and having acquired an enthusiasm for lifelong learning. The school provides a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum to offer the very best academic and, where appropriate, vocational progression pathways and to ensure that the learning needs of each child are considered, and that the development of the whole child is addressed. The commitment is to offer a broad range of opportunities for all students to gain experiences, learning outside the classroom as well as within. The provision of a curriculum which provides enrichment through cultural and sporting pursuits is a key feature of the Robert Carre Trust (RCT) curriculum offer, and they seek to continue to extend the partnerships locally, nationally, and internationally to extend these opportunities.

Features

Things to note

Extra-Curricular
Becoming a rounded individual is an important aspect of life in our Sixth Form and enables students to get a good work-life balance as well as developing transferrable skills. Students have no lessons timetabled on a Wednesday afternoon to enable them to participate in a variety of Enrichment activities. They encourage students to do at least one Academic, one Altruistic and one Active enrichment activity in this time throughout the year. Academic opportunities include the Extended Project Qualification, a personal finance qualification, online learning courses such as a MOOC, Debate Club, Book Club and subject clubs.

SEND
Carre’s Grammar School prides itself on being an inclusive school and they are committed to encouraging and enabling all of the students to unlock their full potential. They recognise that a number of our students will, at different stages of their development, require tailored and targeted support over and above the usual academic and pastoral provision. Visitors have commented on the supportive atmosphere that prevails in the support area and parents speak highly of the personalised support we offer. This has been validated by Ofsted who at our last inspection in 2017 reached the following judgement: “Pupils at the school feel safe. Those who spoke with inspectors were unanimous in saying they are happy and well cared for in school. They are confident that adults within the school will help them if needed.”
