Archbishop Holgate’s is a flourishing school with outstanding examination results, high quality teaching and learning, an inspiring curriculum (complemented by sporting and musical achievements) and a wide, varied programme of extra-curricular opportunities. We seek to nurture aspiration and promote excellence in all our students with whole-school celebrations that embrace the entire school community, such as our Young Leaders Award, end of term assemblies, musical productions and our Christmas Service in York Minster. The collaboration and relationships between students, parents and school is key to our success as a learning community. Communication is central to these relationships, which is why my colleagues and I will always be available to discuss the education and personal development of your child. As part of this commitment I personally make it a priority to send a newsletter to parents each and every week; and our school Twitter feed and website can also help keep you up-to-date with all the latest news from the school.

Curriculum
The curriculum at Archbishop Holgate’s School has been carefully constructed in order to provide opportunities for students to develop socially, morally, spiritually and culturally, alongside maximising the achievement in a broad and rich suite of qualifications that combine the academic rigour of traditional qualifications alongside vocational learning.The curriculum and combination of qualifications offered to students has been constructed with the local labour market needs and our fully comprehensive intake of students in mind. All students are known and supported regardless of individual needs, background and starting points, as we work to help them realise their future aspirations together.

Archbishop Holgate’s is an extremely popular school and one that takes students from a wide geographical area both in York and beyond.  Last year our intake included young people from 45 different primary schools, including the East Riding. We have 30% Foundation places and 70% community places.
