Active Support is an Independent Special School supporting learners aged between 9 years and 16 years of age. They offer full and part time places for young people struggling to cope in mainstream education due to complex, social, emotional and/or behavioural needs.Over the last 11 years we’ve supported over 1,000 learners. Through offering over 60 different qualifications that help learners back into education.
English
This Entry 3 suite of Awards in aspects of English is aimed at adults and young people who wish to improve their English. The Awards are intended to aid progression, either to further study through English Functional Skills or GCSE English qualifications. The individual stand-alone units have been mapped to the Adult Literacy Core Curriculum. An Entry 3 Certificate in English Skills is also available. This is suitable for those who wish to improve all aspects of their English
Maths
The Ascentis Entry 3 Awards in Mathematical Skills and the Entry 3 Certificate in Mathematical Skills are ideal qualifications for adults and young people wishing to develop their mathematical skills at Entry 3. They are intended to aid progression to further study through Mathematics Functional Skills qualifications. The Ascentis Entry 3 Awards in Mathematical Skills are a range of small qualifications which have been designed to ‘bridge the gap’ in learners’ mathematical knowledge, thus focusing on developing confidence and ability.
Science
Science has something to offer every student. That’s why AQA have a suite of science qualifications for Key Stage 4 – to suit students of all abilities and all aspirations.The subject content and required practicals in this specification are also in our GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Personal Development & Employability Skills
Personal Development and Employability is well suited to being tailored to the individual needs of your learners. Learners may complete a minimum of 2 units to gain a qualification. The Qualification is offered at Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 and can be completed in a timescale that suits your learners’ pace of learning.The Prince’s Trust Award, Certificate, Extended Certificate and Diploma in Personal Development and Employability Skills (PDE) recognises a breadth of personal skills, qualities and attitudes required by employers across a range of sectors.
PSHE
The Ascentis Entry 3 Award in Introduction to British Values is a short, one-unit qualification that introduces learners to the 4 principles of British Values. The qualification is aimed at a range of learners, including: young people wishing to pick up an award as part of another learning programme, young people aged 14 – 19 who are in various learning environments and adult learners.
AESTHETIC AND CREATIVE
To achieve an Arts Award Explore, children and young people collect evidence in an individual arts log of their experiences of: active partication in a range of arts activities, including a personal response about what they have learnt from taking part, experience of arts organisations, artists and their work, creating a piece of art work, identification of what they have enjoyed and/or achieved, and their communication of this to others
