Exhibitions: Every year we offer a carefully curated range of exhibitions in both our Temporary Exhibition Space and our new Castle Gallery. Our main space hosts a yearly photography exhibition, art exhibition and our main feature exhibition. The Castle Gallery hosts displays curated by or chosen by the young people of Trowbridge as well as our seasonal exhibitions. See more details below.
Collections: Trowbridge Museum has a collection as diverse and varied as the people who lived and worked in the Town. Trowbridge Museum has a significant collection of textile related machinery on display, including a very rare Spinning Jenny, woollen cloth samples, tools and other material related to the West of England woollen cloth industry. We have a wide ranging social history collection and expansive costume collection, demonstrating life in Trowbridge and the surrounding villages throughout several centuries.
Machinery: Witness the scale of the woollen cloth industry and Industrial Revolution through our collection of rare machinery, including a very rare complete Spinning Jenny.
Cloth & Costume: Experience Trowbridge through the clothes that it’s residents wore, as well as garments created from world-renowned West of England cloth, woven here until the 1980’s.
People & Places: At the heart of our collection are the people who lived and worked in Trowbridge, from Henry de Bohun and Isaac Pitman, to mill owners and factory workers.
A Snapshot: Our collection holds over 6000 photographs and paintings. From large oil paintings to school photographs, they create a snapshot of the town’s history.

Parking: For easy parking when visiting Trowbridge Museum, use the car park next to Asda, which is accessed from Bythesea Road.
Food & Drinks: Use the Shires Shopping Centre entrance close to ASDA. Head straight to Boswell’s Cafe, take the left fork and you will find us on your left.
Toilets: Toilets and baby changing facilities with disabled toilets on both floors.
