Description

The West Lancashire Light Railway is a 2 ft narrow gauge railway that operates at Hesketh Bank, situated between Preston and Southport in North West England. We operate narrow-gauge passenger steam trains on a short run of about 400m from Becconsall station through woodland between the village and the Douglas river, to Delph station.

We normally have one engine in steam. On special event days two or sometimes three locos take turns to pull the train. We offer a family-friendly venue for visitors interested in live-steam railways and the preservation of our industrial heritage. As well as four steam engines, we have around twenty small diesel, petrol and battery locomotives rescued from defunct industrial undertakings, along with three passenger coaches and a good number of vans and wagons.

The site is free to enter - there is a charge for train rides and on event days for some extra attractions, such as the fairground ride and Drive-a-Diesel. If you are looking for Best place for day out with kids and families then this is the perfect destination offering fun, adventure, and unforgettable memories for everyone.
