Welcome to The MAD Museum, based in the center of Stratford upon Avon, this quirky attraction displays interactive pieces of mechanical art, in particular; kinetic art and automata. Explore and interact with over 70 fascinating exhibits in the UK’s only permanent venue for mechanical art.

Museum is a fantastic playground for adults and a perfect treasure-trove for inquisitive kids. As well as being highly interactive and a lot of fun, this eccentric museum appeals to those with curious and methodical brains too. Figure out how the gears, sprockets, robotics and eccentric paraphernalia all engage with one another at the press of a button.

Price starts from £8.80 for Adults, £6.50 for Children(6-15 years & under 5s free) and £25.00 for Family(2 Adults and up to 2 children).   • The MAD Museum: We display around 60 interactive pieces of Kinetic Art and Automata belonging to inventors and artists from all around the globe.Take a look inside our museum.
  • For Families: The MAD Museum is an indoor attraction and offers something for the whole family! Interact with eccentric artworks, contraptions and machines, build marble runs on our giant MAD Marbles wall. Pick up one of our free family activity sheets and take part in our holiday competitions. Use our free craft facilities to sketch the exhibits on display and take as many videos and photos as you like.
  • The Youngsters: The MAD Museum is completely sensory; experience a myriad colours, unusual sounds, flashing lights and movement. Plus, children aged 5yrs or under are completely FREE!
  • The Kids: Mechanical art is loud, eccentric and interactive making it perfect for the kids! As well as being a lot of fun it subtly teaches kids about design, physics and maths.
  • The Big Kids: We challenge you to figure out how these unconventional machines do what they do. We’ve been told The MAD Museum is really nostalgic as many of the exhibits are reminiscent of the works of Rube Goldberg and Heath Robinson.

  • Car Parking: The closest car park to MAD is Windsor Street multi-storey car park which is a 2 minute walk to the museum.
  • Food & Drink: Food and Drink isn’t permitted in the museum but there are plenty of cafes and restaurants close by. 
  • Toilets: The museum does have toilets. These are located in the far left hand-corner of the museum (look for the white walls). The disabled toilet also has baby changing facilities. 
  • Pets: Guide dogs are welcome but sadly we can’t let pets and other animals into the museum.
