Welcome to Carmichael Estate discover Carmichael Estate, Scotland’s oldest farming family business and the home of the Carmichael name. Located on the edge of the scenic Scottish Borders, between Lanark and Biggar, our farm butchery produces award-winning “single malt” meats, including venison, beef, and lamb. You can find our premium meats in the Carmichael Farm Shop or pick them up at the farmers’ markets.

For those who love the outdoors, self guided Carmichael history walks and treks for cyclists and walkers can be taken from the visitor centre. These scenic routes start from the visitor centre and take you through the beautiful landscapes that have been part of the Carmichael story for centuries.

Entry to the Visitor Centre is free, but donations are always appreciated. Your contributions help us maintain these unique historical exhibits and enhance the visitor experience. Explore the Wax Model Collection: We’re excited to announce that the Edinburgh Wax Model Collection is open again. Entry is by donation, so feel free to stop by the farm shop and take a journey through Scotland’s history. Opened in 1994, the Carmichael Visitor Centre is home to a range of unique experiences, including our Farm Shop, The Hideaway at Carmichael Estate, and the renowned Wax Model Collection. This fascinating exhibit brings to life Scotland’s millennium, from Queen Margaret and Macbeth to the present day, through realistic wax model scenes and detailed storyboards. These scenes also highlight local crafts and culture, offering a glimpse into the rural life of our district.
Discover the Carmichael Clan’s Rich History: Our Visitor Centre also includes the Carmichael Clan Room, dedicated to the thousand-year history of the Carmichael family, who have lived on this land for generations.
