Description

Nostell's Georgian house is home to a huge collection, including six of the "125 Treasures" explored in the Trust's recent book. Discover the detail of our globally-renowned dolls' house alongside a wealth of mastercrafts including decorative interiors by Robert Adam, one of the first long case clocks made by John Harrison and world-class collection of Chippendale furniture. 

Nostell's 300 acres of gardens and parkland include wildflower meadows, rippling lakes and majestic woodland, from the winding paths of the menagerie garden to the regimented beds in the working kitchen garden that supplies the courtyard cafe. Entry charges apply to the gardens - see price tab for details.

  • House: Discover Nostell’s grand interiors, remarkable collections, and Chippendale treasures in an 18th Century house rich with history, design, and craftsmanship. Last entry to the house is at 3:15pm.

Keep an eye out for special cycling events throughout the year too.
  • Accessible Trail: 1.4km circular loop through woodland, pleasure gardens, lakeside and the tranquil menagerie garden.
  • Second-hand bookshop: Browse pre-loved thrillers, cookbooks, children’s stories, and autobiographies in the charming second-hand bookshop, set within Nostell’s historic Stables. All proceeds from book donations help support vital conservation work across the estate.
  • Shop: Browse our shop for locally made gifts, homeware, sweets, plants, and toys - including handcrafted ranges by talented local artists. You’ll find us in the courtyard, just beside the garden entrance.a

Facilities

  • Food & Drinks: The café is open daily from 9am, serving hot meals, drinks, and snacks made with seasonal produce from the kitchen garden. Children’s lunch boxes are also available. On weekends and during holidays, our Grab & Go outlet offers drinks, light bites, snacks, and ice cream - perfect for a quick treat on the go.
  • Dogs allowed: Assistance dogs only in the gardens and house.

Top trails:

  • Nostell Obelisk walk: Enjoy this circular stroll through Nostell's parkland and its mosaic of interconnecting habitats, including pockets of ancient woodland, traditional grazing pasture and wildflower meadows.
  • Menagerie Garden walk at Nostell: Enjoy some peace and tranquility as you traverse the pretty lakeside paths that meander through the gardens at Nostell. Along the way, discover the enchanting Menagerie Garden which used to be home to exotic birds and monkeys.
