The National Ice Centre in Nottingham is the East Midland’s top destination for ice skating and ice sports.   • Skating Lessons: Our ice skating lessons will help you learn how to spin and glide around the ice like a pro. We have ice skating lessons available for beginners at Level 1 right up to Level 8.
  • Tots Skating: We offer free skating for children aged 5 and under. We have a dedicated tots zone in the middle of the ice during weekends which can help pre-schoolers grow confidence on the ice at their own pace. Your child can come and enjoy ice skating from as young as 18 months old.
  • Ice Hockey Lessons: Ice Hockey is one of the world’s fastest team sports full of skilful handling, tactics, speed and determination. Learn how to play this exciting sport and you could join an ice hockey club and compete or simply enjoy ice hockey as a leisure activity, participating in games with players of all abilities.
  • Speed Skating Lessons: Speed skating is a tactical and physically demanding sport, where skaters race in groups of four to six in a knock-out style competition. It’s one of the most exciting and exhilarating ice sports to become a part of, with the skaters racing head-to-head around the rink with no barriers or lanes separating them.
  • Curling: Looking for a fun, inclusive and totally unique activity to try this summer? Join our brand-new 6-week curling initiative – the perfect way to slide into something new, no experience required. Whether you’re 8 or 80, standing or seated, this is your chance to discover the thrill of curling in a welcoming, supportive environment. Over 6-weeks, you’ll learn the basics, build your skills, and enjoy plenty of laughs along the way.
  • Synchronized Skating: Synchronized Skating is the fastest growing figure skating discipline. It involves teams of 12-16 skaters skating in formation whilst performing intricate routines to music. Synchronized skating is an amazing team sport that takes hours of hard work and dedication on and off the ice to blend many skaters into one unit.
  • Figure Skating: Figure skating is a multifaceted sport that combines both technical skill and artistic interpretation while gliding effortlessly across the ice. Figure skating is an Olympic sport in four disciplines: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Pair Skating and Ice Dance.

With our expert ice staff on hand to ensure you have a great time on the ice, and a dedicated party area in our T & D café to enjoy your party menu, your child is sure to have a birthday party to remember. Birthday parties cost from £275 (for up to 15 children) and parents can skate for free with their child.

  • By Car: To travel by car, simply follow the brown tourist signs visible on all major routes into the city. Parking is available within just a few minutes' walk. See our car park map for nearby car parks.
  • By Bus: Long-distance and local bus services operate into Nottingham's two main bus stations; Broadmarsh and Victoria, which are a ten minute walk from the National Ice Centre. Several Nottingham City Transport (NCT) bus services drop you right outside the venue and Trent Barton has several bus services which run past us.
  • By Train: Nottingham Train Station is a ten minute walk from the National Ice Centre or a very short taxi ride. East Midlands Railway operate regular trains to and from Nottingham. 
  • By Tram: The nearest tram stop to the National Ice Centre is 'Lace Market' on Fletcher Gate which is only a three minute walk from the venue. In addition there are several free 'Park and Ride' sites in operation: Moor Bridge just off the A611 south of Hucknall, Phoenix Park just off the M1 at junction 26, Wilkinson Street just off the ring road in Basford and The Forest just off Gregory Boulevard.
