Features

  • Aylsham: Aylsham is a picturesque Norfolk market town on the upper River Bure. Its National Trust–cared-for market square is lined with elegant 18th-century houses, a reminder of the town’s cloth-trade prosperity. History is woven through the town, from the 14th-century St Michael’s Church - linked to John of Gaunt, who appears on the town sign and inspired the name of our No. 8 locomotive - to the grave of renowned landscape designer Humphry Repton in the churchyard.
  • Wroxham: Wroxham Station is the southern terminus of the Bure Valley Railway, where your nostalgic steam journey to Aylsham begins. Travel the railway through to the market town of Aylsham, or make a day of it, exploring Wroxham itself - often called the “Capital of the Norfolk Broads.” At the station you’ll find a ticket office, small shop, free parking and accessible facilities, as well as Buffer Stop Books. For enthusiasts, the station has two main platforms, a siding, and a working turntable where locomotives are released and turned for their return journeys.
