Birdland Park and Gardens is a beautiful wildlife attraction in the Cotswolds, home to over 500 birds set in nine acres of peaceful gardens and woodland. The park gives visitors the chance to discover exotic birds and their Jurassic ancestors. It’s a great destination for families, nature lovers, and curious kids.

Visitors can enjoy meeting penguins, parrots, owls, flamingos, and many rare bird species across 50 aviaries. Unique features include the Jurassic Journey with life-sized dinosaurs, Pandemonium of Parrots, and the new Double Zip-line. Daily talks by expert keepers and themed areas like the Out of Africa and Desert House add to the experience.

Gate prices are £14.95 for adults, £11.50 for children (3–15), and £13.95 for seniors/students. Online bookings are slightly cheaper with adults at £13.95, children at £10.50, and seniors/students at £12.95.

With lovely picnic areas, a children’s play zone, and excellent facilities like a café and gift shop, Birdland offers a complete family day out. It’s a relaxing yet exciting place to learn about bird species and ancient life. The mix of birds, dinosaurs, and interactive fun makes it a must-visit in the UK.

BIRD SPECIES & AVIARIES

  • Meet the Birds: Birdland attraction features a diverse collection of bird species from around the world, including penguins, parrots, owls, and flamingos. Visitors can enjoy close-up encounters and learn more about these fascinating birds through interactive displays and daily feeding talks.
  • Parliament of Owls: The Parliament of Owls is the latest attraction at the Bourton-on-the-Water wildlife park which is home to eight different owl species. Among the birds on show in the new aviaries are snowy owls, burrowing owls, great grey owls, spectacled owls and Indian scops owls. Visitors can also meet Mackinder’s eagle owls, Chaco owls and white-faced owls.
  • Pandemonium of Parrots: Welcome to the new Pandemonium of Parrots area at Birdland which is now home to 16 different parrot species. Eight new aviaries have been constructed where visitors can view the new species including the kea and long-billed corella.
  • Desert House: Here at Birdland you can travel the world and experience birdlife from arid deserts like the Sahara in the Desert House. This kind of habitat has very sparse flora with small and fragrant wildflowers growing in very dry conditions. This proves vital for insects, reptiles, birds and mammals in the harsh environment.
  • Out of Africa: Here at Birdland you can experience life in the Southern Hemisphere exploring the Out of Africa area, without leaving the comfort of the Cotswolds! The African habitats feature a total of nine aviaries; six of which have been recently constructed to showcase the huge variety of birds found on the continent.

  • Bourton-on-the-Water: Bourton-on-the-Water has a unique appeal to visitors and residents alike. There is plenty for you to see and do with a wealth of attractions and shops, restaurants and tea rooms. Visitors will also enjoy some tranquil time by the River Windrush with its five beautiful bridges to discover along the route.
  • Park & Gardens: Birdland is set in nine acres of gardens and woodland. This creates a picturesque canopy for the winding River Windrush. The Park was one of the first bird encounters to open in the UK. There are over 130 species of birds on display, from some of the rarest to the most unique species that have developed to live in a specific habitat. Birdland Park & Gardens is home to the only breeding group in England for King Penguins.

ATTRACTIONS & EXPERIENCES

  • Jurassic Journey: Calling all Dinosaur Hunters, Fossil Fanatics and Potential Palaeontologists! Embark on an adventure in the Jurassic Journey here at Birdland Park and Gardens. There are over 30 different species of dinosaurs ranging from a metre-long baby stegosaurus to a 5-metre tall brachiosaurus. On this prehistoric expedition, you’ll encounter life-size dinosaurs hidden amongst the flora and above in the tree canopy.
  • Meet the Keeper: Daily Meet the Keeper talks will take place here at 12:15 pm daily, so be sure to catch them. From becoming a perch for a parrot to a climbing frame for a snake there are lots of creatures waiting to be met. Our expert keepers will be on hand to give informative talks on some of the animals within the Encounters Area.
  • Children's play: There’s lot’s of outdoor fun to be had for kids with the outdoor play area. A small obstacle type playground for children up to 10 years of age to expel all their energy!

  • Food & Drinks: The Nest: Kitchen and Cafe serves delicious hot dishes to refreshing cold options.
  • Parking: The closest Pay and Display Car Parks are on Rissington Road (1 min walk) and Station Road (5 min walk).
  • Picnic areas: There are three picnic areas located around the park. 
  • Baby changing: Birdland now has a Changing Places toilet onsite, located next to The Nest: Kitchen and Café.

  • By Car: The closest Pay and Display Car Parks are on Rissington Road (1 min walk) and Station Road (5 min walk). On some weekends additional paid parking is provided by Bourton Vale Cricket Club, Manor Fields on Station Road and The Cotswold School.
